Christmas Fun

We knew that getting Carson to sit on Santa's lap would take some work.  We started weeks ago watching Christmas shows - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc.  We even practiced what Carson would say to Santa - short and simple - "big truck please".  (Thought about taking the please off - but we want him to have some manners.)
Before we headed out to see Santa, Carson checked out the gifts under the tree.  He ate a good breakfast and had packed up his bag of cars to take with us.  Seemed like we were on the right track.
Standing in line waiting to see Santa - this was the calm before the storm.  This was our first time to see Santa at Northpark Mall.  We're rookies at this so we thought we could just show up and get in line.  Seems that "good" parents get in line at 6:30 a.m. and wait until the mall opens at 9:00 just to get a ticket.  Then, they must show back up at their designated time to stand in line AGAIN.  Thank goodness our friend, Jack, was working the Santa line.  He slid us a ticket under the table and we were allowed to enter the roped off area.  We were almost busted a few times - parents take this very serious, but we managed to make it through their barrage of questions.

Right before we crossed the threshold to see Santa, his little helper told me that "97% of 2 year olds cry once they see Santa".  She also said, "go ahead and buy the pictures - you'll laugh about this when he's older".  Well, she was somewhat right.  Carson did cry, but he also attempted to kick and I'm sure would have resorted to biting if daddy hadn't stepped in to save him.

We did take her advice and bought the overly expensive picture.  Can't wait for the laughs this will bring us in the future.

After a hard day at the mall, Carson helped mommy bake chocolate chip cookies.  He was a good taste-tester and made sure the dough was up to par.  We're hoping next year will be better.  Carson will have to set a good example for his baby brother.
