The State Fair of Texas

Today's activities:
  • Crazy idea to go to the fair on the day that most school districts let their kids out of school and it's Columbus Day.
  • Super hot outside - with no breeze. (and the fact that I'm 4 months pregnant)
  • Hey, let's save money and help the environment by riding the dart train downtown.
  • Jammed in like sardines to and from the fair with the other million people who had the same crazy idea.
  • Spent the day chasing after a 2 year old who refused to ride in his stroller.  Thought for sure we were going to lose him in the crowd.
  • The ONE attraction I really wanted to do was the petting zoo.  Guess how long that line was?  So long we couldn't see the end of it.
  • Highlight was eating our funnel cake.  This was Carson's first funnel cake and he enjoyed it.
  • Thought we would leave early and beat the crowd back on the train - HA!!  It was unbelievably crowded.  So crowded that Mimi was up close and personal with some strange man.  Good thing Papaw wasn't with us.
Here are my new rules for the fair:
  1. We're taking a day off from work and going on a random weekday when it won't be as busy.
  2. Go only if the temperature is going to be below 80 degrees with at least a 10 mph wind.
  3. Never take anyone under the age of 3!!!
  4. Take an extra pair of pants (trust me - this would have come in handy and I'm not talking about Carson).
Here are the few pics we took today - it was too hot to get the camera out of the stroller for any others.

Daddy and Carson in front of Big Tex.  (Can't figure out why this picture keeps posting sideways and I'm too tired to figure it out.)
