Props to St. Francis

Assisi, Italy - Basilica of St. Francis

While we were in Italy in the summer of 2007, we visited a small town in the Umbria region called Assisi. Our tour of the Basilica of St. Francis was led by Friar Edward. After our tour, Joni, Chris, and I returned to meet Friar Edward for a private tour where he offered to show us around and let us see their private living areas and other parts of the Basilica. Chris told Friar Edward about our infertility issues and how long we had wanted a baby. Friar Edward was nice enough to pray for us and said he has had this same request from other couples who later became pregnant. Well, 6 months later - we were pregnant!! Was it a coincidence? We don't know, but Chris promised to return to Assisi and put Carson's picture on St. Francis's crypt as a sign of respect and to give thanks. Knowing that it will be several years before we can travel again, we found a Friar in Assisi who was willing to post our picture for us. (Friar Edward had returned back to Canada already.) We plan on taking Carson back to Assisi as soon as he's old enough to enjoy it.
